Deer Creek Church in Littleton, Colorado
Project Overview
Deer Creek Church in Littleton, Colorado, partnered with Scottish Stained Glass to transform their worship space with a design that beautifully balances tradition and modernity. Worship Pastor Aaron Ellis shared that the east-facing sanctuary struggled with harsh morning sunlight, creating both practical and aesthetic challenges. In addition to light control, the church hoped to visually represent five key Presbyterian concepts—word, water, bread, wine, and prayer—while avoiding figurative religious imagery. This presented our designer, Maria, with a unique and meaningful artistic challenge: to capture these five “means of grace” in a way that aligned with the congregation’s theology and elevated the atmosphere of the space.
After several design iterations, Maria developed a concept that struck the perfect harmony between Gothic architectural influence and contemporary abstraction. She created soft, cloud-like forms that symbolize the meeting of heaven and earth while subtly incorporating the five sacred words throughout the composition. The final design not only fulfilled the church’s theological requirements but also introduced a calming, contemplative visual narrative—transforming the sanctuary into a space of reflection, reverence, and inspired worship.

Project Details
Location: Littleton, Colorado
Type of Project: Custom Design & Fabrication
Glass Type: Airbrushed and hand-painted leaded glass
Client Type: Presbyterian Church
This project required a combination of artistic innovation and technical precision. Maria pioneered a new method of airbrushing and kiln-firing paint onto glass, enabling the artwork to achieve a soft, ethereal quality while maintaining long-term durability and crisp detail. The Gothic-inspired framework complements the church’s architectural character, while the abstract cloud forms introduce a contemporary, contemplative aesthetic. After evaluating eight initial design concepts, the final composition struck the perfect balance—honoring the congregation’s traditions while bringing a fresh, modern beauty to the sanctuary.
Notable Highlights
This installation stands out as one of the most conceptually rich projects we have undertaken. The stained glass at Deer Creek Church translates core Presbyterian theology into a sophisticated visual language, where each element—word, water, bread, wine, and prayer—carries deep symbolic weight. Once the meaning behind the design is shared, congregants discover layers of spiritual storytelling woven into the abstract forms. The response from the church community has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic, with members describing the new windows as not only beautiful but profoundly meaningful to their worship experience.
