When you work with our custom stained glass company, you will be working with expert designers, master craftsmen, and experienced installation professionals. When it comes to custom stained glass installation, we have developed our own methods that ensure your stained glass’s safety from the elements.

Most of our clients are very interested in the design process, but few ask about the installation process. But we believe that custom stained glass installation is just as important. After all, once your window is installed, you want to be able to enjoy it for many generations to come.

One of the reasons we say custom stained glass installation is that our method is customized to the location. We will install your new stained glass windows or door panels or hanging panels in one of three ways.

1. Our most common custom stained glass installation process is to bond the new stained glass to the existing pane of glass in the window. In this way, the stained glass is protected from the elements. It’s easy to clean the outside, because you’re only dealing with a regular pane of glass. We apply a thin bead of caulk around the stained glass, matching it to your window frame color, to ensure that no dirt or debris can get in between the stained glass and the original glass. (By the way, did you know that installing stained glass in this manner gives a single pane window the thermal efficiency of a double?)

2. If a client wants stained glass in a very we environment, such as the shower or a steam room, we will use a different installation method. For situations like this, we will usually add another clear pane of glass, sandwiching the stained glass between that and the original glass. In this way, the stained glass is completely protected. If you are wondering why this is necessary, or if you already have stained glass that is not protected in this fashion, no worries. Usually moisture will not affect a stained glass piece at all. It’s only over many many generations that the wetness might have a damaging effect on the lead strips that are used to hold the glass pieces together.

3. Our third custom stained glass installation method is to hang the panel instead of installing it into a window. We can build you a stained glass panel, family crest, or other small piece that is designed to be hung in a window or on a wall. This is also an option if you purchase an actual antique stained glass window that does not fit into any of your existing windows, such as the windows in our Antique Scottish Collection.

We can create a hanging installation for you instead. Or, alternatively, we can create a custom replica of these windows that can be installed into the window of your choice.
